The Wall of Honour contains more than 3,000 bricks each holding the memory of someone, some event or some organization. Behind each brick there lie memories. To share these memories with others and preserve them for future generations, donors were invited to contribute to the Book of Memories. The Book of Memories is on display for the public in the reception area of the Colonel Belcher. An interactive kiosk containing all of the Memory Book entries can be found in the same area.
The original intent of the Book of Memories was to provide an opportunity for family and friends to record a brief biography of those to whom the bricks on the Wall of Remembrance in the Memory Garden were dedicated and to those who may have been in care at the Colonel Belcher at some time during their life.
The Wall is completely filled; but not every person represented on the wall has a page in the Book of Memories. We welcome stories about those men and women for whom a brick has been dedicated. Please send your biographical sketch along with optional material such as a photo and military service documents to gdegners@gmail.com
The Society is often asked if it is still possible to add a brick to the Wall. Unfortunately, it is not. However, we would be pleased to add a name, biography and photo to the Book of Memories. Please send your submission to gdegners@gmail.com along with your name, address and telephone number.
